The Indian army has issued an unusual apology for shooting dead two teenage boys in Indian-administered Kashmir. The army says it made a mistake in firing at a car they were travelling in on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday. Correspondents say it is rare for the army to admit such an error in such speedy and unambiguous terms. A senior army commander based in the Jammu region flew especially to Srinagar to address the media in the aftermath of the deaths. "We take responsibility for the death of the two boys in Kashmir," the chief of the army's northern command, DS Hooda, told reporters late on Friday.

Global Hand Washing Day in Dadyal

October 15th 2014: Anderhal Youth Representatives organised a 'Global Hand Washing Day' event at Government Boys School Dadyal. It's becoming more and more necessary to promote awareness of the importance of personal hygiene to encourage individuals to take the steps required to reduce the risk of infectious diseases spreading. The public must be reminded of bad habits as well as the risks associated with them. Islam encourages us to take various steps to ensure that hygiene standards are high, however, many individuals due to lack of awareness continue to be complacent when it comes to basic tasks such as washing hands with soap and  consequently, put themselves at risk. There are also various steps that need to be taken by those preparing food which are often neglected in Dadyal which often leads to stomach infections and food poisoning. It's a ray of hope to see youngsters involved in community service initiatives.

Two Soldiers and Four Militants Killed in Indian Occupied Kashmir

August 25th 2014 - SRINAGAR: Two soldiers and at least four militants were killed in two separate gunfights in India-held Kashmir over the weekend, an army spokesman said on Sunday. A daylong battle with a group of militants on Sunday left one soldier and four militants dead in Kupwara district, said Col N.N. Joshi, the spokesman. He said another soldier was killed in fighting in Keran sector, near the de facto border in the disputed Himalayan region. Soldiers encountered on Saturday night the militants, who had crossed the border, some 150km northwest of Srinagar, the official alleged. “In the resultant exchange of fire between army and terrorists, one soldier was injured who succumbed later to his injuries,” Col Joshi said. The violence came after India called off high-level talks with Pakistan, scheduled to take place in Islamabad, angry that a Pakistani official had met Kashmiri leaders in New Delhi.

Pakistan described the cancellation of talks as a setback for closer relations with India’s rightwing government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India’s military says it has stepped up operations to flush out “suspected Pakistani militants” moving across the Line of Control. On Saturday, Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged fire along the border further south in the region of Jammu, resulting in four deaths and forcing villagers to flee their homes. Foreign NGOs Spying on Azad Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD: Former Inter-Services Intelligence director general Hamid Gul has said that the recent visit of Nawaz Sharif to India was quite disappointing and asked the prime minister to adopt a strict Kashmir policy during his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Addressing the ex-servicemen society at the Central Press Club on Thursday, the former intelligence chief said that foreign agencies (NGOs) were merely spying on Muzaffarabad instead of doing anything constructive in Azad Jammu Kashmir. He also outlined future plans by his son Abdullah Gul for forming a platform for youth, after seven years of continuous research and hectic efforts.

He informed the retired army officers that that he had phoned Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and had received assurances to look into the welfare of the retired officers who had always been badly sidetracked in all budgetary concerns. Deliberating over the organization of ex-servicemen, he said that this organisation was kept in abeyance for 17 years by none other than former president Pervez Musharraf. Gul said that ex-servicemen would evolve into one strong and constructive organization, which would also take due part in social and welfare projects of Muzaffarabad, doing away with the 'assistance of foreign NGOs.' The occasion concluded with a declaration applauding services of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, also demanding a Fauji Foundation Hospital branch in Muzaffarabad.
